Official figures are showing that there are more than 198,000 people, including single men, women and abandoned children preparing to spend a bitter cold Christmas alone in the UK. The figures, which are up from last year, and yet, down from 2009, have caused concern to many Charities – but the wisdom of these Charities, are calling on the Government to help those affected by giving ‘Cash Strapped” Christian Organisations millions of pounds to initiate “Teams of Carers” who will provide ‘Morale Support’ over the Holiday Season.
“We are asking the Government to have a heart this Christmas, as there are thousands of people out there in the UK who are looking at spending the holiday season alone, without food, and/or without any support.” Rev. Douglas Glenison revealed.
“If we cannot help these people by supporting them through what is believed to be a worse Winter than those previously experienced, then the resulting effect could be that many of those lives will be extinguished by the New Year. We have asked the government to spare a thought, and to allocate finances to better the brunt of the Holiday Season for the one hundred and ninety-eight thousand that are going to be spending Christmas alone this year.” He added.
Urgent calls for £500 million to be allocated to “The Sanctuary of God Organisation”, which was started up in mid-August this year, has caused quite a stir with some local politicians, but the concerns have been ‘Justified’ because there are no plans to track the funds if the Government were to allow it. A large percentage of the money would be pumped into the ‘Foreign’ area of the new Organisation, where the staff jet-set across the world and provide support to ‘War Torn’ countries and the victims who will be spending Christmas without families or friends to share the annual festivities.
One local government official has asked for the Organisation to concentrate the finances, if given, to the UK only, and immediately come under fire by certain Clergy as being “Selfish”.
“The Sanctuary of God is an International Organisation, and as such it does not answer to any political influences where finances are concerned. If there are any people in other countries that are in the very same position as those in the UK, then it is our duty to help them. Obviously more of the money which we are asking for will be spent by supporting Iraqi, Afghan and Syrian families out this Christmas, because of the hiked prices in travel, taxes and other expenses. Be it that the British Government thinks us ‘Miracle Makers’, we cannot fund these poor people who have had their children, parents or grandparents killed in wars that were of no fault of their own.” Rev. Glenison concluded.
Many MP’s and Local Councillors have called the request “An insult”, while some Councillors have hailed it as “Humane”. The call itself for £500 million would place a large hole in the Economy, but calls from City Councils such as Bradford, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool, have insisted it is something that is needed for the victims of wars which Britain, America and other’s took to the innocent civilian people.
In a damning response to the whole “The Sanctuary of God” Organisation’s request for financial help, Mr Adrian Kent from the ‘Financial Leader-board UK’ told reporters: “As an organisation which was established in the United Kingdom, and as all but a few of the ‘Christian’ helpers are based in Iraq, it is considered ‘Inappropriate’ for Britain’s Government to hand over cash which is to be spent outside of the country. Of course, finding out that their calls to the Vatican in the same way failed to gather the money, it was the British Government which befell to the next request. Sympathies are with all these people over the Christmas Season, but the fact is, everyone is feeling the brunt of instabilities in their Economy, Living Standards and Support.”
The Sanctuary of God Organisation is to take their issue to the Court of Human Right’s, where the ‘Valid’ request was presented to the British Government, and yet the request was turned down because of the mere mention that monies would be used overseas.
Mr Kent added: “The Sanctuary of God Organisation must understand one thing while considering taking this to any other Governing Body, and that is, what they have asked for from the UK Government was ‘Just a Request’, of which, the Government has the right to say yes or no to. In this case, as many other’s will agree and the Court of Human Right’s also, that in this case the answer is NO. While this is one Organisation which is requesting financial help, and in the finalization the UK Government has rejected the request, it is by no means a message to other Organisations out there who have need for support.”
**There are around 45,000 other Organisations in the United Kingdom who put forward requests for ‘Financial Help’, from all of these it is estimated that only 3% will be granted permissions, with a further 7% being allocated the money as loan-type permission.
