A Country at War…With Itself: A Political Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, there lived a very enthusiastic, sometimes dedicated and happy man by the name of David Cameron. His Social and Political learning curves were, as some of his educated friends and colleagues revealed somewhat unorthodox, but his sights on being Prime Minister one day did not falter in the slightest. His idol was that of a woman who used to be the Prime Minister, now a Dame, who goes by the name of Margaret Thatcher. Now Margaret (or Maggie as many also know her by) began doing very odd things back in the 1980’s, and it wasn’t long before other members of her party started “Following the trend” and taking on-board something that they had no idea would change British history, forever. As many Premieres before Margaret tried hard to keep the whole country together and united, Margaret decided to change the rules a little and sell off all that Britain owned; first there was British Gas, then the Water Companies, until finally, every Utility Company was floated onto the Stock Exchange Market – and so down the river without a paddle.

Many believed that it was the introduction of the Poll Tax which resulted in the infamous “Iron Lady” being knocked from her seat of power at Downing Street, but some were misled in thinking this, because Maggie lost her angle, her influence, and finally her marbles by believing she actually “Owned” Great Britain, and that everything that she said was to be obeyed. How wrong Maggie was, and so, she was waved off down the line to be replaced by a man, and that man was John Major. Now John was a normal John, not one of these John’s that you heard about all the time where his “Think Tank” was bigger than other Parties “Think Tanks”, but he did take ideas from Maggie, who was still in the background and oozing influence into Downing Street.

The whole country was becoming a mess. Wars were looming everywhere and anywhere that other country’s thought it best to stop Britain taking over their lands, and so, after two decades, three wars and a whole paper trail of hidden expenses claims later, another Party was allowed to regain a hold of power. This time it was Labour, and Labour had great plans for the country of Great Britain and its people. This time it was the turn of a Tony, Tony Blair, and his young, boyish charms were something to be reckoned with. His mannerisms were his trade mark – and his downfall – as he led Britain in toppling great Dictators and War Lords around the Globe, with the help of our Armed Forces, of course, who kicked their butts along with the help of British Allies, too.

Unfortunately, with Labour entering the seat of Downing Street, it was no big secret that they had a lot of mopping up to do after the Tories rule. The boats were launched, however, the waders dressed and the British people told not to worry. Unemployment did fall drastically, Rates dropped, too, as well as a lot more things in the kingdom, but something was wrong with the country – with the world itself – and it was revealed that there could be a dark cloud hanging over the entire Globe.
In 2011, David Cameron was voted in as Prime Minister of Great Britain, although still today, nobody is quite sure why the “Great” remains on the front of the Islands title, because it is far from great; unemployment is rising, the National Health Service (which helped Dame Maggie Thatcher and her husband live a little and lot longer) has been faced with dilemma after dilemma, and the nation as a whole are being asked to work longer for less. So why this Nation would be referred to as “Great”, when a black cloud of “Recession” and “Depression” looms in the not so distant future is quite baffling to say the least.

The voting stations at the time of the last General Election were ordered to close early, even though there were more than one hundred thousand plus voters still waiting to put in their ballot paper. It was then not 24 hours later that the announcement was made on a “Hung Parliament”, “A Draw”, and “A Coalition” where two Political Parties were to take the seat of Downing Street. What was this? The coin, the purse, the odds, the universal calculator had promised that the Liberal Democrats would be crowned “Gods” of Parliament for the next four years by a Landslide. So what went wrong? Well, just like in every Fairy-tale, you get the “Wicked” characters who lurk in the background, the ones who have the littlest of power and who cash it in when things aren’t going their way. David Cameron is one of these that believed that life was neither going his way, nor was it going the way for his Party, either, so he changed the rules and began to change his strategy, too, with much advice taken from Dame Margaret Thatcher and other “Old Has-Been’s” of the former Conservative Party. Eventually a plan was created from an old one, but it was that David Cameron had to admit that this was his idea, just in case the whole thing went south and people’s titles were put at risk.
Promises were made by The Conservative Party, many promises given but never kept for the British people. Instead, British money was squandered and in many cases sent to other countries for other needs that the Prime Minister believed was more important than the issues and break-points in his own country – and for his own British people. The Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg was beside himself, so much so that many of the Public began to taunt him with chants of that ‘Toy Town’ favourite hit “I have no string’s to hold me down” and the number two spot holder “Puppet on string”, because when all was said and done, he was but a “Personal Puppet” for the Prime Minister, David Cameron. And only now is he beginning to see the light and the error of his ways by standing up to the Little Big Man of the Political Think-Tank. Only now is the Liberal Democrat rethinking his path for the escape which would not make him any less of a man than he already is…or was as in this case.
Nick Clegg has, or had the entire confidence of the British People. His long and thought out Political Campaign sounded off to all Cultures that it was time for change, it was time for something new and it was time for those Parties who told all the lies to think again about setting eyes on Downing Street. The run of the campaign had earned Nick Clegg the entire trust of millions– then it all fell apart with the announcement of a “Coalition”. Was it a fix? Yes. Were the voting stations closed at the critical point where it would mean a joint share in the Political Hold and Decision Making? Yes. And, did the Mirror on the wall tell David Cameron that he was the fairest of them all? Hell no. But the decision and the act was made anyway, because to recount the votes would signify incompetency, as well as set alarm bells ringing in other people’s minds to the greatest fix in British history.
With leaks and breaks everywhere in the Political blanket, the Coalition and its entire drive through European matters has brought something ugly to the world, and what is worse, its brought poison to the Dinner Table of politics. In the entire history of Britain, no man, woman or child has become less safe from the brink of disaster than now – today – when prophecies are told of the world ending (And in one, it is said “As we know it”) which begs the question: “Mad Max or Batman?” Will the world of politics be replaced? Will the world of the general public ever trust Politicians again? Will the Rich remain Rich, or will the world turn darker and default on crime wave after crime wave?
The future for many may seem bleak, dull and doomed. But know that the human race will be forever – even if there is only one last man standing – and for this we can say that we had the world in our hands and politics brought it to its knees through greed, through selfish acts of pleasure and gain, and through the wisdom of those who wished to build a New World Order from the flames and ashes of that which was once great.
