Kissed By An Angel

There are a few people who have turned round to me and claimed that my state of mind was – at the time – not tuned appropriately to understand the real play of experience in the incident. And, that the mind does play tricks on the person at all times, not just some of the time, because adjustment is one of the Human Souls triggers that activate at the slightest sign or indication of trauma.

I was seven years old when my experience of any supernatural occurrence happened, though there would, so I am told by those who have had similar experiences, have been previous visits and unexplainable encounters as a child. It was the time when I had my almost fatal car accident; a boy who attended the same school as me gave chase which made me run across the main road just outside the street where I lived with my parents, and in the element of surprise I was ran over by an off-duty police woman rushing to her lovers home for a quick couple of hours of extra marital pleasure. I didn’t even see the car coming at the speed that it was travelling, but all the same its wheel crushed into my rib cage having the back wheel arch push me away and into the concrete curb to knock me unconscious.

In the one hour and forty-five minutes it took for the ambulance to get me to a hospital that would deal with the RTA (Road Traffic Accident), my oblivious mind was rolling so quickly and tirelessly to a point where the blurry visions of those inside the ambulance were disfigured and yet, they were slow in their movements while checking my vital signs. Voices were distant, then they were so loud that I feared the sound would hurt my ears, but all the same they were like the echoes from a mountain pass or high raised valley.

The journey to the hospital’s E.R (Emergency Room) was long and winding from the ambulance, as each hallway ceiling fluorescent light stretched in length as I passed under it. To my left and right the porters assured me that I would be alright, that I was safe now and they would fix me up as good as new. Here, right at this moment in time, when I looked up I saw someone – something. They were no sooner there than they were gone in the blink an eye.

During the operation when the surgeons had to reseal my broken skull, I remember the lights of the operating theatre blinking on and off for a moment, the occasional darkness wrapping around my whole body as brief cold air began moving around my legs and arms. “Shock”, one of the Doctors told me later. Then there was the experience of very warm – not hot – radiance filling my entire body as though all at once I had entered a placement of comfort.

I was oblivious to the operation that took several hours to be conducted on me, and maybe this was due to the drugs that I had been given for the pain of my injuries sustained in the accident. The one thing that my mind recollects like it was an occurrence that happened only yesterday was the light kiss that I felt upon my forehead which brought this great and somewhat overwhelming feeling of total peace and comfort. The face of this person was feint, their hair white or blond, but certainly not the colour of my Mothers or any other relative in my immediate family.

When approaching the nurses with this information they told me that there were no nurses in that part of the hospital fitting the description that I gave, and that kind of action was never given to any patient as it was considered inappropriate. Maybe it was an act by a nurse who was caring, or that of a nurse who thought that it was appropriate to show some kind of kindness. Even this was rejected, because there were no female nurses in the Operating Theatre when I was having my operation, just the surgeons and two male doctors who were helping with the assistance of instruments and the apparatus.

After nine months in St. James’s Hospital, my discharge was considered as one of the luckiest for having recovered so well, except, of course, for the Night Terrors and Convulsions that I had suffered throughout the healing process. All the same, nothing else was said about the strange incident with the kiss, until I was visiting a relative of the family in Scotland, where they told me that it would have been the kiss from an angel to help me through the operation. It was so common in Scotland for people to recall the comforting of some angelic or heavenly apparition while they lay ill or dying, and yet it was something that I was so unfamiliar with during my childhood in England. Later I researched the “Common” occurrence that so many swore they had experienced and so many had Doctors, Physicians and Experts expelling the experiences as mere tricks of the mind while high doses of drugs kept the patients sedated, stable or ready for surgical operations.

My defence was that as a seven year old child who was neither religious or in any way connected in religious beliefs, the mere thought of an angel leaning over me on an operating table and kissing me on the head was a very long way from being the result of drugs or beliefs. All I know is, the experience was not the first time, or second in my life, and the other incidents weren’t through an accident, operation or that of a life threatening experience. What they were I do not know, but what I do know is that when they occur I feel at peace, and that is the only description I can give.

If the fact is that there are angels that intervene in the lives of human’s when they are in danger, and it was the result of this intervention that saved my life at the time, then I am eternally grateful. Though I haven’t turned to the Church with complete heart and soul to this debt, I feel that one good turn deserves another and the debt shall be paid in full when the time comes. Until then I live life to the full and live it like it is my last on this world.

How wonderful to have been kissed by an Angel...and I am sure that is what happened. The warmth that you felt is just like the miraculous healing I had, and as described by others. That warmth was the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout your body. All healings are not instant, and sometimes come slowly after he has touched us. So glad you wrote about your experience with the Angel, as many are afraid to believe their own experiences.

Thank you, Elle, for your kind words.

As I mentioned in the article, the experience that I encountered at that time was by no means the last, as there have been other, more stranger incident's where my senses, my condition and diversions from harm have been well documented. As many people are aware, unfortunately, there are those out there who dis-spell the theory, the fact and the existence of the many "Interventions", whether they are of God or Gods.

Though I have chosen not to embrace religion and run to the nearest available Church to hand over all my wealth (not that I have any, except for my trusted word processor), my decision to live a better, safer life and provide something to those less fortunate in this world has been both enlightening and rewarding without riches.

Thanks again for your Comment.

Great story and thanks for telling about it. I believe that these things can occur and I love how you say you live your life now--we, including me, can learn from that!

Thank You, Steve, I'm glad you liked the post. I have had quite a few near misses with death and with these - except one - I have experienced some pretty strange incidents. Some people I know have tried to sum the experience up with "Guardian", "Indian Guide", "Muse", and even "Arc Angel", but to me I prefer to live for the day and leave the ideas and the Intervention of whatever outside forces to those more experienced.

Thank you again, and have a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.
