Summary: A weekend at a lake house in the Louisiana Gulf turns into a nightmare for seven vacationers as they are subjected to shark attacks.
Review: Much more than Jaws, but less than Deep Blue Sea - just - as this movie brings the viewer face-to-face with blood and Gore in small measures throughout. The concept of this film is spot on for the first ten minutes; an almost equal footing to that of Spielberg’s 'Jaws' franchise with a feel of underwater menace and fear-filled Sharksploitation, though the similarities, whether intentional or not, between other Shark Attack films brings the viewer up against a mixed bag of 'Good Viewing'.
It must be said that the introduction of the college frats and girls(Sara Paxton) Sara, (Dustin Milligan) Nick, (Chris Carmack) Dennis, (Katharine McPhee ) Beth and (Chris Zylka) Blake into the storyline makes one wonder -sometimes- what is happening, until they reach Sarah's house, that is. It is now that the real Shark-Fest and Feeding Frenzy starts.
Making themselves comfortable at Sarah’s house, which she has been absent from for three years, the group settle in before hitting the water for a little bit of skiing. It is now, Blake has an accident – or was it – and the others must come together to help their friend get to a hospital.
Finding this a gripping Aqua-Horror, with great special effects and the occasional 3D bounce outs (Without glasses and certainly not from the 3D version), the rating itself tells the reader that this is a definite “Thumbs Up” movie which many will enjoy watching. There is, as already mentioned at the beginning, the slow start, though this is immediately after a gruesome introduction to the little fishes that don’t have their names in the titles. After this slow introduction of the characters that are accompanying Sara, all bets are off that the viewer will hold it against the director for the short slip.
