The World Appears To Be Broken

Are Government’s Really in Control?

Close your eyes and listen carefully to everything that is going on around you at this very moment in time; everything from the loudest sound of a skyward passenger plane making its final approach to land on the outskirts of the city airport, to the almost silent sound of a passing Butterfly that flutters by with not a single care in the world.

Now open your eyes. The very first thing that you will see when you open them is the change – there no longer sits the theoretical vision which you were thinking whilst your eyelids were tightly closed. The world has moved on since you first shut your eyes an hour ago – 64,000 miles (Approx.) – not to mention the 10,800 babies that have been born while you have passed idly by in your day dream.

The world has become a much bigger place now. Though you won’t see the difference for a while, it is has changed in such a way that our air is becoming thinner, residential areas smaller, cities larger, jobs fewer and, right there… right in the middle, that is YOU; a defender of your own faith while those around you defend theirs with much the same techniques and abilities that you have. Your attitude has submerged itself into the microcosms of “ME”.

Speaking as a Brit, something that so many of us wish to do on an everyday basis, I speak of “Change”, and how that change has led us to believe many things that aren’t (sometimes) true! Like the change in decisions that have to be made every day, rather than every week. Like the change in our opinions from one minute to the next, instead of the daily task of self-evaluating the real world as it is today – The Modern World.

We ask the question, is our world safe? We ask the question, are our families safe? And, we ask the question, are Government’s really in control? Well, when we refer to “case studies”, like most of our Politicians do when asked a direct question; we see that two of these questions can be answered…

The world is far from safe. Our families are not safe because the simple truth of the matter is, the world is not safe. So, what about the third and final of the questions? Are our Government’s in control?

A lot has happened since the turn of the millennium, with Labour making it into Downing Street and the Conservatives losing the vote through the loss of faith from the public. Disaster after disaster in the wake of all politicians and public people throughout the country, while the war in the far east still raged on and brought more death, destruction and anger from the various terrorist cells. Yes, a lot happened from the year 2000 onwards, and today it is still there. You can still hear the ranting’s and raving’s of the street people warning the politicians that this would not end well for anyone – were they right? Yes, I do believe they were.

There is a belief that “The Enemy Within” is the closest thing to “Sleeping with the Enemy”. Who is the enemy? Is it our neighbour, the man across the street who decides to wear a hoody, the woman in the corner shop who sends her wages back to her homeland, or is it the people that we, ourselves have voted into the one place that seats Power?

Upon our street’s we gaze upon the pedestrians that make their way to destinations unknown to us –unless they are no strangers to us and we know where they are headed – but all the same they make their way forward quietly in the knowledge that their woes and tribulations are for their very own private resolve. The roads and walkways that we look upon are cracked and broken, buildings (Unless newly built) fall into disrepair through the Local Government’s lack of funds, and our school’s now show over secure entrances that only lack armed guards for the bad elements to stay away.

Through the daylight hours our journeys are rushed to coincide with the sign of the times, while in the tighter confines of the night, we slow our pace, restrict our journey’s and fail to extend visit’s to the places we are unfamiliar with. Of course, while we are safe at home in front of the TV, we see the news reports that do not bode well for some; attacks, killings, murders and kidnaps. It is these elements of life that keep us on a unilateral journey of remaining safe by our knowledge – or the knowledge that we are fed each and every day – where we are told of all the safe places (For now) that we can travel, how long we can be in these places for and of whom we can trust while we are there.

Upon the streets we see the gathered groups of teenagers who at first sight don’t look that threatening, until at last they confront you with cheek, quips, pranks and even retaliation that are brought on by their need for people to fear them. It is a fact that not all these groups are violent and not all of them want to “Mug” you of your possessions, however, of whom these groups are we do not know – nobody knows – because their attitudes change from day to day, hour by hour. The fact of this is that these groups pose a psychological and also a physical threat to anyone, including the police who believe that unless the group (or a single individual within that group) are wanted for breaking a law, then they are best left alone.

With so few police officers on the streets of the UK now, the sudden increase in Groups who gather together after school is increasing beyond the normal projections, thus sending some false statistics to Central Government for the public to view. The appearance of these numbers awaiting a significant count before the Government turn and say that there are too many congregating in one area at any one time, but for the shopping centres the numbers are limited by laws which are never monitored until an outcry of the public is driven by force.

With so many “After Dark” incident’s being statistical of the media, the government and to the daily newspaper reader, the picture painted is that we are living in strained times. Our streets are neither safe nor predictable anymore, whereas a person in their late 30’s will turn and say that in their youth the streets were quiet and safe to travel by day and by night in any season. Of course, there were the occasional attacks, but this was rare until the turn of the eighties when from somewhere came the surged plague of “Human Brutality”.

In retrospect of this, however, the punishment fitted the crimes of those that carried out these unlawful acts before this time. Murder carried 15 to 25 years before the turn of the 1980’s, while Manslaughter resulted in a minimum of 7 years prison term. Compared to the sentences of the pre-eighties, there are those that will serve less than four years for Manslaughter and less than ten years for Murder. There are no politicians brave or wise enough in Britain today to bring back “Capital Punishment” for fear of their careers being ruined, while all the time the vicious anger and hatred fuelled criminal continues to go about their illegal business unpunished to the highest degree.

So, the question is: “Are the Governments Really In Control?” The answer is simple and to the point – No they’re not. Until there is some control point put into place where the Victim is protected from the Criminal, and that the Criminal is made aware that these points are put into place, we will have a country that believes in leniency of pity for the Criminal that appeals to the Court, Judge and Jury that they are the Victim of a failed system – Vicious circle that has run the course so many times over – where Society has made them what they are and that Society should be put on trial for their mistakes of committing the ultimate crime against a fellow human being.

Strange is the fact that anyone who would contemplate a killing, a murder or a physical attack on an innocent person in the UK, would never travel abroad to any other country where the penalty for these was death by lethal injection, the electric chair or hanging. Were any of these practices operational in the UK, how many people do you believe would go out and risk their very own life-force to be extinguished through any of these acts?
