Redcar Beach Review.

For many the calmness and serenity of Redcar Beach in Teesside, is one of the most memorable; its golden sands, the various ups and downs on the Sand Dunes and the inescapable offshore views of the North Sea and its various sized ships waiting for the tides. A truly beautiful and quiet place for a family day out, while for the romantics in the singled male and female a must go place to take a relationship onto the next level.

The one unfortunate downside of this once picturesque (as a preteen my visits here were memorable of beautiful and serene) beach spread, is that of the neglect; household waste, car parts, beer bottles and beer cans - all months (maybe years) old are scattered by the sand dunes. The public walkway - Promenade like beach entrance - is riddled with danger for the bare footed child, animal and even adult. Horse manure trails down through the car park, down the walkway and onto the golden sandy beach - This is not the Redcar I remember.

Refreshing.

Unlike many East Coast seaside hotspots, Redcar does not have much in the way of Cafe's, Pubs or even shops anywhere along its picturesque shoreline. The large portable Cafe - Sizzling Griddle - however, offers up a great tasting coffee, nice tasting burgers, hot dogs, chips and other delightful takeaway foods. This is good if the time spent near the cafe is intended, but, if the moment was taken to venture elsewhere along the beach then the pre-planning of making your own beverages and food would certainly be recommended.

Conclusions: Harder now in today’s climate to receive funding for such a place as Redcar, but unfortunately, like most other seaside favourite destinations that have fallen foul of litter bugs and the likes the only thing left is deconstruction. If the area was to be regenerated to a simple and affordable condition where attractions for the younger generation were put in place, then I believe the family experience can be enhanced. By building a large (permanent) Fun Park near the beach area the increased attraction of more thrill-seekers may well over shadow that of Redcar being a Family Zone, and so bring many of the problems we see in such places as Bridlington, Scarborough and West Coast locations. In all honesty, I can only say that the next time I visit Redcar Beach will undoubtedly be too late to see any change in the condition – I hope that in this I am wrong – that we have been made witness to over the summer.

Redcar Beach Was Such A Disappointment
